I FOUGHT PIRANHAS

MACIEJ KUŹMIŃSKI COMPANY

Inspired by the 2017 Polish street protests, called the “Black Protests”, I fought Piranhas presents an un-even struggle of one woman vs. the all encompassing, chauvinist social order, fuelled by the prominent politicians such as mr. Korwin-Mikke. By claiming that “of course women must earn less than men because they are weaker, they are smaller and they are less intelligent.” in the EU Parliament he envisions the shape of a new world order. What can we do, apart from protesting in a form of dance art. After all, when fighting Piranhas one can only hope to get out of this whole.

angrily and with a provocative passion danced by Monika Witkowska

Regensburg Tanz Production Prize at the 32nd International Choreographic Competition in Hanover in 2018.

definitely the most interesting is the statement by Monika Witkowska, addressing an important topic (calling it "feminist" would be another condemnation to the sex ghetto, a universal problem), verbal message enriching with a strong, expressive, consciously non-defective movement.

Monika Witkowska from Poland danced to present the terrible political situation in her country, especially the attempt to tighten the abortion law, for which she received public applause.
